Children's Day, May 27th, 2023, could have gone like any other day with its funfare limited to school children of mostly private schools, but the same could not be said of the children of Modupe Cole Memorial Home — they had the best of celebrations as the whole family of KUTH Foundation paid them a surprise visit.

A Family Affair

The KUTH Foundation team was ably led by its Principal Promoter, Mr. Gerald Azonobo, who used the opportunity to celebrate his birthday. He came very prepared with his children standing tall by him — it was actually the first time they were witnessing their father carry out his philanthropic works.

His daughter, upon sighting the children in the home, broke down in tears. Truth be told, it takes a lot of strong will not to cry seeing how God has been kind to those of us that have good health.

Two Hours of Joy

The KUTH Foundation team took approximately two hours to interact with the children, the staff, and embarked on a tour of the facility. Their joy was out of this world when they were showered with gift items ranging from food stuffs to clothes to sanitary products worth close to one million naira.

Every staff member of the home was gifted between N2,000 to N4,000 and appreciated for the good work they are doing.

“I thank you the caregivers for your time and dedication to work and ensuring that these children are well taken care of. We have always seen you all as part of us — reason each time we think of a reach out, your home is always included. Today I have equally brought my kids here so they appreciate their status in life as well as appreciate you all and learn from you that there is ability in disability.”

— Mr. Gerald Azonobo, Founder & Executive Director

An Adopted Home

The Executive Director of Programs, Prince Francis Chilaka, who was equally accompanied by his children, took the home and the foundation's friends down memory lane:

“Modupe Cole Home is more or less an adopted home of the Foundation. A few years back, we were involved in paying the school fees of one of their vision-impaired students. We have also in recent past donated wheelchairs and other needs of the home. All these we do in love.”

Extending Love to Widows

The outreach did not stop with Modupe Cole. Widows within St. Augustine Catholic Chaplaincy, Akoka, Yaba-Lagos were equally visited and presented with food items worth about half a million naira.

The women were so elated that they could not hold back their joy but started singing songs of praise to God for the kind gesture of the foundation. They prayed for Mr. Azonobo and the entire KUTH Foundation Team.

“The death of one's spouse is not the end of the road. No one has power over death, so when it comes, as Christians, we should embrace it as the will of God and see the new phase of life as a vocation. I hereby encourage you all to do all that is within your powers to be happy always, dress fine — because your children are looking up to you.”

— Mr. Gerald Azonobo, in his address delivered by Prince Francis Chilaka

Prince Francis Chilaka added: “I implore you all to hold on to your faith and belief in the Resurrection. You should know that your late husbands have gone to a better place and watch over you from above. Do not see yourselves as inferior or accept anything that reduces your pride — rather, always ensure that you speak out when being maltreated.”
