KUTH Foundation joined the global community in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, 2026, with a special event themed "Inclusion Matters: Building Community Together."
The celebration brought together over 150 families connected to KUTH's Down Syndrome Support program, along with educators, healthcare providers, and community members committed to inclusion.
Activities included inclusive games and sports, art workshops, educational sessions for parents and caregivers, resource sharing and networking, and a talent showcase featuring individuals with Down syndrome.
"This day is about celebrating the unique gifts that individuals with Down syndrome bring to our families and communities," said Mrs. Adaeze Okwu, KUTH's DS Support Program Coordinator.
The event also served to raise awareness about Down syndrome and advocate for the rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in Nigeria.
KUTH's Down Syndrome Support program currently serves 120 families, providing early intervention services, educational support, family counseling, and community integration activities.
The celebration concluded with families forming a human chain to symbolize unity and support, followed by a shared meal that brought together people from all walks of life.
